The main objective was to encourage and empower educated people with special needs, to reach their full potential and join the mainstream employment; thus, they no longer need to depend on others economically. Nearly 85 people were placed in jobs after completing the basic course of Computer Operations, English communication and Personality Development.
In June 2017 the same training module was replicated after shifting to GODS Abode at Airoli, with the able support of the Rotary Club of Bombay Pier. But in Airoli, we found there were not many people with disabilities to take up this course.. Hence this course has been conducted for under privileged beneficiaries of local Municipal schools along with our own day care and life care beneficiaries. This course helps these beneficiaries immensely as they don’t get English coaching or computer time in their schools. They can use this knowledge in their future education or jobs.
Finding a group of beneficiaries with speech & hearing impairment in Palghar, through Able to Ability initiative of District 3141 of the Rotary clubs and the Rotary club of Palghar, online training sessions for Palghar beneficiaries started on 14th October, 2020.
The sessions are taken thrice a week, with a trainer and a speech therapist for interpretation. Sonopant Dandekar college, Palghar graciously agreed to help these beneficiaries with their computer lab for the training period.
We have completed 5 batches beneficiaries of NMMC school, Navi Mumbai and 2 batches of Speech and Hearing beneficiaries from Palghar, Online.
