Solar Power Plant

MBA Foundation Airoli is fully powered by its own Solar Power Plant installed and commissioned in February/ March, 2024.
Being a part of India’s Green Energy growth story

With a view to saving the cost of Energy Usage and be a part of India’s Green Energy growth story, MBA Foundation Airoli Navi Mumbai had ventured into building a 25 kWp Rooftop Solar Power Plant in Feb – Mar 2024 with the help of Mumbai based VISOL Renewable Energy Solutions LLP.

It was a very innovative way of creating additional sheltered terrace space for various activities for our Trainees, and at the same time generate power from Solar Panels pasted on the rooftop.

LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation had sponsored the cost of the Installation and Commissioning of the Solar Power Plant
The Solar Power Plant consists of 46 PV Panels mounted on a slopy roof with inbuilt water jet cleaning facility and daily remote monitoring of its performance parameters. With the existing consumption pattern, the Solar Power Plant will pay back in less than 4 years’ time.
The Solar Power Plant not only produces power to meet daily power requirements of the MBA Foundation, it also contributes in giving additional power to Maharashtra State Electricity Grid, thus becoming totally Green Energy Provider as well as Consumer.

The Net Metering System which is tested and certified by Electricity Authorities, will record & deposit excess power given to the Grid in a Power Bank and pay for the power deposited at the end of each year – a drive beneficial to both the Electricity Board as well as MBA Foundation.

The Solar Power Plant has 25 years of Linear Performance Warranty and is serviced by VISOL on a regular basis.

The Solar Power Plant was formally inaugurated by Shri Kamal Kumar, Zonal Manager of LIC in March, 2024 in the presence of several executives of LIC of India, a few representatives from MSEB, Trustees and Staff of MBA FOUNDATION.
EMERGENCY DG SET – MBA FOUNDATION, AIROLI

Frequent power-cuts are being encountered on a regular basis, particularly in Airoli, and this becomes more severe during summer months. This not only causes disruption in our office working but also gave rise to severe discomfort to the inmates. At times, the power cuts even continue overnight which causes too much discomfort to our residential life care beneficiaries.

In order to overcome the above situation, a need was felt to procure a DG Set which can auto-start whenever there is a power failure. Taking into account minimum load requirement of the Centre, plus 25% reserve capacity; a suitable Genset of Cummins Make 58.5 kVA range has been selected. The total cost of the Project came around Rs. 10 Lacs including installation of a Synchroniser Unit, which utilises Solar Power while Gen Set is in operation. M/s Marsh McLennan, Mumbai has generously donated full amount covering the entire cost of the DG Set Project.

The Emergency Genset got commissioned on 03 Dec 24 on World Disability Day, in the presence of all Staff and Trainees of MBA Foundation.
