Started Mutually Beneficial Activities Foundation

Focus on fruitful occupation after necessary skills training for Persons With Disabilities (PWD) towards ‘A LIFE WITH SELF ESTEEM & DIGNITY’.
Also to answer the Traumatic question of parents.

Starting of Day Care Activities Centre ‘Godsmiles’ in Chembur

With 7 young girls trained at National Job Development Centre (NJDC); making items of daily use.

August 2003

Setting up new centre in Powai – Gods Heaven

Finding the need for life care, our search ended in getting four flats on the ground floor in Powai, which suited the immediate requirement started with four life care beneficiaries and six-day care beneficiaries.

Year 2004

Early Childhood Intervention clinic

Finding no facility available for small beneficiaries with special needs in Powai, we set up an Early Childhood Intervention clinic to prepare a child with the requisite therapy, early intervention towards school education.

August 2005

Setting up Thane centre in association with Rotary club

To address the needs of parents of persons with disabilities, Rotary Club of Thane North End and MBA Foundation set up a vocational training and sheltered Work Centre in Rotary Help Centre with seven beneficiaries.

April 2006

Training & Placement Initiative with National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) Foundation

The feedback from the organisations after the job fair resulted in starting of a training course to better equip these youngsters with necessary pre requisites for a job. NASSCOM came forward to support with space and teaching faculty for computer training and English language, Communications, etc. This helped more than 100 candidates to receive training out of which about 75 got good jobs in Companies / Banks / Institutions etc.

Setting up Vocational Training & National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) coaching

Setting up Vocational Training & National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) coaching at Society for Education of the Crippled (SEC) Day School in June, 2007 reaching out to more and more persons with disabilities. SEC Day school approached us to train their ex-beneficiaries in vocational training towards a home bound occupation as most of them are physically challenged and commuting is a problem.

Finding most of them educable through our assessment, we started coaching them in English and for NIOS 10th class exams. They have all done well and are working in a sheltered atmosphere, where they are trained in new skills like candle, flower making etc.

September 2007

Free Annual Health Check up for all beneficiaries of MBA Foundation with Dr. L.H.Hiranandani Hospital, Powai

Every student admitted in any of our services, is eligible for a yearly check up in the hospital. Based on the results, any further investigation is done, or the doctors do the interventions required or prescribe the medicines. All these are done Free of cost as a commitment from the Hiranandani as a partnership gesture for G.O.D.S’ (Group of Disabled) health requirements.

Setting up of new Centre in Gorai – Gods Saagarika

One of our well-wishers, Mr. Amit Dholakia, who is very appreciative of our services, offered us his and his sister’s bungalows in Gorai free of cost, to reach out to more needy people. This was an opportunity to extend our services in the far western suburbs and to be able to take more beneficiaries.

SEFD - SELF ESTEEM FOUNDATION FOR DISABLED

This organization was born in 2011, due to the need for taking care of awareness building, marketing of products, helping more people with disabilities through supporting other NGOs like MBA Foundation, etc
More than 50% staff are empowered people with disabilities !!!

Inauguration of first disabled friendly building in Airoli, Navi Mumbai, GODS’ Abode

This Project has taken more than 4 years to complete with all the necessary legal formalities, plans approvals from relevant government authorities and the construction of the building as per the required regulations. This has been possible with the support of the Trustees, Parents / Guardians and Well-wishers of the organisation and Corporate Donors through CSR.

GODS’ CEDAT (Centre for Executive Development & Training)

GODS’ CEDAT (Centre for Executive Development & Training) was inaugurated on 10th June 2017 for the differently-abled and under-privileged youngsters. MBA has tied up with ADAPT Hub, an Institution in Navi Mumbai that specialized in training beneficiaries in different subjects.

The inaugural function was attended by the guests from the Rotary Club of Bombay Pier, Mr. Dilip Vora, Mr. Saurabh Sonawala, & Mr. Prakash Chawla. The other members like Mrs. & Mr. Venkatachalam; Mr. Prem Bhatia of Yati Foundation, Airoli; Mr. Pawan Singh of Capgemini; Ms. Ruta of Kamani Foods Ltd; and all the Staff Members of MBA Foundation and SEFD were Present.

Inauguration of AMBA Foundation Course

One of our Special Educators with two of our trainees went to AMBA Foundation in Bangalore and took special training in computers to train our special trainees. There are 20 trainees in a batch. This course is to provide sustainable livelihood to adults with moderate to severe intellectual disability, leveraging Information Technology.

It also works towards building an ecosystem of learning and earning for these individuals using Information Technology, giving them the dignity and independence that they deserve. Adults joining this training will benefit from learning and working around their peers, helping with their development and state of well-being.

7 DECEMBER 2017

Inauguration of “BLESSINGS”- an outlet through which we showcase the products made by G.O.D.S’ (Groups of Disabled)

On the 7th December, 2017, in GODS’ Abode, Airoli we conducted another event with Inauguration of “BLESSINGS” , This is an outlet through which we showcase the products made by G.O.D.S’ (Groups of Disabled) and COMPETITIONS with the theme “SWACHATHA” for specially abled beneficiaries & adults. In all, there were about 350+ participants. The competitions showcased paintings on cleanliness, nutritious food items for the betterment of health, Fancy Dress, Skits, etc. In all these events, Specially Abled beneficiaries & adults participated – underlying the theme “SWACHATHA”.

There were different cultural programs, dance, singing by all the children. All the winners were awarded with Medals and Gifts by the judges from the different fields. All the participants were given Certificates. The Vision and Mission of MBA Foundation and SEFD of “Life with Self Esteem and Dignity for Persons with Disabilities” was strongly propagated through this event.

21st May 2018

Outbound Staff Training Program titled "Enhance and Excel" was organized for MBA and SEFD staff members.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Yateen Gharat and took place at Hotel Oritel Service Apartment in Talegaon. The focus of the training program was on enhancing communication skills and understanding individuals' perceptions on various subjects. The session spanned the entirety of one day, offering participants ample time to engage with the material and develop their skills.

Our first collaboration with D Y Patil University School of Dentistry in Navi Mumbai

They organized Dental Camp at GODS Heavens, Powai on August 28, 2019. This event was tailored for all the trainees of our Gods Heavens Centre, aiming to provide dental care and awareness within the community.

4TH December 2019

A seminar titled “Inclusion through Empowerment and Employment” (ITEE-इति) was organized on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, in collaboration with the Self Esteem Foundation for Disabled.

The seminar focused on Training & Empowerment, Attitude & Opportunities, featuring eminent speakers from various NGOs and corporates. Discussions encompassed Training, Career & Job Opportunities, and the nuances of Attitude & Opportunities in the realm of employment. Senior directors from corporate entities provided insights from a Corporate Perspective.

Additionally, a panel discussion titled “Rising Beyond (Obstacles & Challenges)” took place, moderated by Mrs. Geeta Castelino, an Educationist, Consulting Psychologist, and Corporate & NGO consultant. Panelists included representatives from TISS, Nina Foundation Mumbai, SBI, as well as staff from MBA Foundation and the Self Esteem Foundation for Disabled.

In the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, we initiated online activity classes for all beneficiaries

These activities encompassed a variety of engaging subjects such as Art & Craft, Yoga, Cooking, and more. Through virtual platforms, we aimed to ensure continued participation and enrichment for our beneficiaries despite the constraints imposed by the pandemic.

14th October 2020

Initiated Online classes for Hearing Impaired trainees in Palghar area

20 beneficiaries were taught Computer lessons & English language, in sign language, with computer practical in a local college. .

9th December 2021

An online motivational talk was organized for both abled and differently abled individuals.

The session featured Mr. Yateen Gharat as the keynote speaker. The aim of the event was to inspire and uplift participants, regardless of their abilities or disabilities, by sharing motivational insights and encouraging messages.

Through this online platform, attendees had the opportunity to gain valuable perspectives and motivation to pursue their goals and overcome challenges they may face in their lives.

May 2022

A free assessment camp in Airoli with the goal of raising awareness among the local community.

The focus of the camp centered on Early Detection & Action Plan for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). Our primary aim was to underscore the significance of early childhood intervention and to broaden the accessibility of our organization's facilities to a wider range of beneficiaries, particularly in Day Care and Life Care (Residential) programs.

After the event, 7 small beneficiaries and 3 young adults were given admission in education, therapy, and skills training activities.

We entered into a partnership with another NGO Mann- Celebrating abilities with a training program in Housekeeping, Hospitality, F&B & Retail services, dedicated to finding suitable employment for the trainees.

A seminar on DEVELOPING AN INCULSIVE SOCIETY was organised

The seminar focused on the Recent Developments in the field of Disability Management towards INCLUSION and its Future. Eminent Speakers from different social service sector were speakers. The differently abled who are employed in corporate also shared their work experience.
The Vision and Mission of MBA Foundation and SEFD of “Life with Self Esteem and Dignity for Persons with Disabilities” was strongly propagated through this Seminar.

Inaugurated Sanyukta – Tailoring unit for mothers of beneficiaries with disabilities, being rehabilitated by MBA Foundation & Sheltered work unit

The project aims at gainful occupation for them, helping them earn some livelihood along with fruitful utilisation of their spare time. This activity will empower them and also help SEFD in expanding their market for stitched products.
Initially, they get trained in making simple products like, small purses, aprons, cloth bags, cushion covers, and artistic accessories like cloth torans, fabric jewelry, table mats, etc.

We formalized the signing of the official sub-centre agreement MOU with Mann- celebrating abilities

The overarching objective of this project entails Mann's will provide vocational support and skill development training to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Mann will oversee both the training and employment aspects of the initiative.
We are happy that our three trainees have successfully secured employment in the retail marketing sector, highlighting the tangible outcomes of our collaborative efforts and the effectiveness of the program in facilitating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

22nd June 2023

The MOU was signed with D.Y Patil deemed to be University School of Dentistry to conduct dental awareness, diagnostic, and treatment camps.

These camps will be organized periodically, equipped with necessary equipment, doctors, nurses, etc. The collaboration will focus on the implementation of the project for dental and oral health checks. .

Inaugural Function Of Solar Panel

On March 26th, 2024, MBA Foundation in Airoli inaugurated Rooftop Solar panels. Shri Kamal Kumar, Zonal Manager of the Western Zone, and Shri Sujoy Dutta, senior division manager, inaugurated the panels.
The installation work was done by Visol India, a solar panel company from Mumbai. Ms. Aparna Shirsagar Co-Founder, Head Customer Relations and Major Priyanka Co-Founder, Head Marketing from Visol, along with all our trustees, were present. This marks a big step towards caring for the environment and being inclusive.

Empowering Differently-Abled Individuals:
A Recap of the Assessment Camp at MBA Foundation

On April 27, 2024, MBA Foundation organized a free assessment camp for differently-abled individuals, with 28 students participating.
Led by Dr. Nancy Sethna and Asha Sankhe, the multidisciplinary team provided personalized assessments in areas such as rehabilitation, vocational training, early intervention, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy.
The camp aimed to promote independence and self-confidence, empowering participants to pursue their goals and fostering inclusivity in the community.
